The Spill

Intel (INTC) drew 192 mentions on r/wallstreetbets in the 24 hours ending 6:45 a.m. ET on Oct. 30, up from 17 in the prior window, and moved from 25th to 4th on ApeWisdom's tracker. That is a count of comments and posts, not a filing or a trade, and the jump looks bigger than it is because 17 is a small starting point.

ApeWisdom counts mentions, comments and posts both, over a rolling 24 hours and scans the subreddits about twice an hour; this is one reading.

Attention spike

The label means the mention count and rank jumped between two readings of the same tracker; it says nothing about who traded, what they bought or sold, or whether anyone did.

What the tracker shows

ApeWisdom's reading at 6:45 a.m. ET on Oct. 30 put Intel at 192 mentions, 1,529 upvotes and fourth place among the stocks it tracks on r/wallstreetbets. The same tracker 24 hours earlier had 17 mentions and 25th place. The provider works that out to a ratio of 11.29.

The Other Side

An 11-fold jump reads like a stock that came out of nowhere. It wasn't. Seventeen mentions already put Intel 25th on the tracker a day earlier, so it was on the board, just low, and from a base that small the ratio flatters a move of 175 extra mentions.

Rank is relative. Fourth place depends on what every other ticker did in the same window, and a slow day across the subreddit lifts a modest count higher than a busy one would.

What it can't tell you

  • Who is talking. Mentions aren't unique users. One account commenting 20 times counts the same as 20 people commenting once.
  • Whether anyone traded. A mention is a comment or a post, not an order. The tracker counts attention; it doesn't record trades, and it doesn't measure sentiment, so 192 mentions could be praise, complaints or jokes.
  • What set it off. ApeWisdom aggregates public Reddit posts and comments over a rolling 24 hours and reports the total. The reading carries no cause, and we don't have one.

What to watch

The same tracker 24 hours after the 6:45 a.m. ET reading, to see whether 192 holds, climbs or slides back toward 17. Separately, any insider filing (Form 4) or congressional trade report (PTR) naming Intel would be a disclosed trade, which this is not.
